2. Estimates and Pricing

Free Estimates

We provide free, no-obligation estimates for painting projects within our service area. Estimates are prepared using the details you share and an on-site review of the project area.

Estimate Accuracy

Pricing is based on:

  • The condition of the surfaces at the time of inspection
  • The agreed scope of work
  • The paint products and finishes selected
  • Standard surface preparation steps

Estimates remain valid for 30 days from the issue date. After that period, prices may change because of material or labor cost updates.

Additional Work

If we uncover conditions during the project that require work beyond the original scope, such as hidden water damage, lead paint, or extensive drywall rot, we will let you know right away and issue a written change order before moving forward. No extra charges will be made without your written approval.

3. Service Agreements and Contracts

Written Agreement

Every painting project requires a signed service agreement or contract before work begins. The agreement will outline:

  • The detailed scope of work
  • The selected paint colors, brands, and finishes
  • The project schedule and estimated completion date
  • The total price and payment schedule
  • Warranty details

Scope Changes

Any change to the agreed scope must be documented in a written change order signed by both parties. Verbal requests or promises to change the scope are not binding.

4. Payment Terms

Payment Schedule

Our standard payment schedule is:

  • Projects under $5,000: 50% deposit when signed; remaining balance due at completion
  • Projects $5,000–$15,000: 30% deposit when signed; 40% at the midpoint; 30% at completion
  • Projects over $15,000: Custom payment schedule described in the service agreement

Accepted Payment Methods

We accept:

  • Check (personal or business)
  • Credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover)
  • Bank transfer / ACH
  • Cash (receipt provided)

Late Payments

Final payment is due when the invoice is received unless the service agreement states otherwise. Past-due balances are subject to a 1.5% monthly interest charge (or the maximum allowed by California law, whichever is less). Accounts more than 60 days overdue may be sent to a collection agency, and you agree to cover reasonable collection expenses, including attorney fees.

Disputes

If you think your invoice contains an error, contact us within 10 business days of receipt. We will review the issue and work toward a prompt resolution.

5. Scheduling and Project Timeline

Scheduling

Project start dates depend on crew availability, weather, and material delivery timing. We will make reasonable efforts to begin on the agreed date.

Delays

We are not responsible for delays caused by:

  • Bad weather, including rain, extreme heat, or high winds
  • Unexpected structural or surface conditions
  • Delayed deliveries from third-party suppliers
  • Customer-requested scope changes
  • Permit or inspection delays

If delays occur, we will communicate them as soon as possible and share an updated timeline.

Access to Property

You agree to provide reasonable access to the work area during scheduled project hours. This includes:

  • Unlocking gates, doors, or garages as needed
  • Clearing personal items, furniture, and fragile belongings from work areas
  • Keeping pets away from the work zone
  • Providing access to power and water as needed

If access is not available, the project may be delayed and standby charges for the crew may apply.

6. Surface Preparation and Conditions

Preparation Standards

Our standard prep process may include:

  • Cleaning and washing surfaces when needed
  • Scraping and sanding loose or peeling paint
  • Caulking gaps and cracks
  • Applying primer where necessary

Pre-Existing Conditions

We are not responsible for conditions that existed before our work began, including but not limited to:

  • Wood rot or insect damage
  • Poorly installed or deteriorating siding, trim, or drywall

If lead paint is found, work in that area will stop immediately and you will be notified. Lead paint remediation requires specialized contractors and is not part of our standard services.

7. Paint Products and Materials

Product Selection

We use professional-grade paints and materials from trusted manufacturers. The exact brands and product lines will be listed in your service agreement.

Color Matching and Approval

  • You are responsible for color choices unless you have hired our color consultation service.

  • Surfaces with pre-existing conditions not included in the original scope

Warranty Claims

To submit a warranty claim, contact us in writing with photos and a description of the issue. We will inspect the area within 10 business days and, if the problem is covered, complete the repair at no additional cost.

9. Cancellation and Refund Policy

Customer Cancellation

  • Before work begins: You may cancel the service agreement within 3 business days of signing and receive a full refund of any deposit paid. After 3 days, the deposit becomes non-refundable but may be credited toward a future project within 12 months.
  • After work begins: If you cancel after the project has started, you are responsible for payment for all completed work and materials purchased through the cancellation date, plus a 15% restocking fee on unused materials.

Company Cancellation

We may cancel a project if:

  • Unsafe conditions are present on the property
  • Required payments are not made
  • The requested work would violate building codes or regulations
  • Unforeseen conditions make the job impractical or unsafe

If that happens, you will only be charged for work completed.

Mountain View House Painting FAQs

If you’re planning a house painting project in Mountain View, local weather, surface conditions, and HOA rules can all shape the result. Find straightforward guidance on durability, pricing, timing, and what matters most for California homes.

  • For most average-sized homes in Mountain View, exterior painting takes about 5 to 10 days. Timing can stretch when Bay Area fog slows drying, especially in neighborhoods closer to Shoreline Park. Careful surface preparation is essential because moisture can affect how well primer and finish coats hold up.

  • Several factors shape the final cost, including the home’s size, the condition of the surfaces, and the quality of paint selected. In older Cuesta Park homes, stucco may need more repair and prep before painting begins. In Whisman Station, newer properties can include more detailed architecture. South-facing walls also take more sun, so higher-grade UV-resistant paint is often needed, which raises material costs.

  • In many Mountain View neighborhoods with HOAs, including parts of the San Antonio area, approved color ranges and finish standards are common. It’s best to get your color choice reviewed before buying paint. In some historic areas near downtown, the city may also require a permit for exterior color changes.

  • Make sure the painter has a current California contractor’s license, general liability coverage, and workers’ compensation insurance. Ask to see recent references from projects in nearby cities such as Sunnyvale or Palo Alto. A dependable painter should also give you a clear written estimate that spells out prep work, materials, and the number of coats included.

  • Late spring through early fall is usually the most reliable time to paint outside, while avoiding the hottest part of summer. Morning fog can push back start times, so some scheduling flexibility helps. Interior painting can happen any time of year, but exterior jobs need dry surfaces and temperatures above 50 degrees, which Mountain View typically offers from May through October.

  • Typical issues include peeling trim caused by moisture from morning fog, fading on west- and south-facing walls from strong sun exposure, and blistering when stucco is not properly prepared. In older neighborhoods like Old Mountain View, wood siding can be especially prone to moisture damage if it is not sealed and painted correctly.

  • Yes. A clean, professionally finished paint job in a neutral color can improve curb appeal and support a stronger resale impression. In a market where well-kept, move-in-ready homes attract attention, fresh paint helps show that a property has been maintained and can make it stand out in listings across the area, from Palo Alto to Sunnyvale.

  • Yes. Low-VOC and zero-VOC paints are strong options because they help reduce indoor air pollutants during and after application. They are easy to find locally and perform well on interior walls and trim. They also fit the environmentally aware preferences common throughout the Bay Area.

  • For exterior surfaces, satin or low-lustre finishes are often the best fit because they stand up better to moisture and are easier to wash. Flat finishes can hide flaws on older stucco, but they are not as durable. For trim and doors, high-gloss finishes offer strong protection and a polished look.

  • Once a year, rinse exterior walls with a garden hose to clear away dust and airborne buildup. Check the caulking around windows and trim and repair any cracks as soon as they appear. Touch up chips or peeling areas right away so moisture does not get in, especially before the wetter winter season. Regular upkeep helps protect your investment.
